Clinical and Experimental Optometry, the peer-reviewed optometric journal in Australia has ranked the University of Houston College of Optometry # 2 among all US schools and colleges of optometry for research impact from its top researchers.

Nine UHCO faculty members are ranked among the top 200 optometric investigators in the world with six of them being in the top 100. The faculty members include Dr. Earl Smith, Dr. Ron Harwerth, Dr. Ray Applegate, Dr. Mark Bullimore, Dr. Ruth Manny, Dr. Michael Twa, Dr. Li-Fang Hung, Dr. Jan Bergmanson and the late Dr. Merton Flom.

Dr. Earl Smith has been ranked among the top 10 optometrists worldwide.
