The University of Houston, College of Optometry has a summer research program supported by the National Eye Institute. The purpose of this program is to introduce students in health professional schools to the opportunities for a research career. The program is designed to help avoid a future shortage of clinician investigators by attracting professional students into clinical and health-related research as a career. Optometry students who participate in the program will receive a Predoctoral Research Fellowship in the amount of $5844 for the summer (May 10 to August 8, 2017). U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required. Special consideration will be given to students from underrepresented ethnic minorities
