The University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO), Doctors, clinical residents, BLINK (Bifocal Lens in Nearsighted Kids) staff, Good Neighbor Clinic staff and University Eye Institute staff volunteered to provide visions screenings. In addition to the doctors and staff onsite, UHCO had students from the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH), the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) and the Student Public Health Vision Care Association (SPHVCA) to assist with vision screenings for grade school children attending the Back to School Fest. Together, they screened approximately 700 children with the help of Eye Care for Kids. Patients were able to make onsite appointments as well as apply for Eye care for Kids Program at the event. UHCO was happy to kick off another great school year for thousands of Houston kids!
