Please tell us a little about yourself and about what info you'd like to receive from the College of Optometry.
Students join the UHCO family from across the United States and beyond.
Doctor of Optometry students will become part of a unified network of fellow students, faculty, staff and alumni committed to their success and well-being not only while attending UHCO, but well after graduation. Students accepted to the Doctor of Optometry program are of the highest caliber nationally with competitive GPA and OAT scores. Students in the program graduate having experienced five clinic areas, private practice as well as vision screenings throughout the Greater Houston Community. UHCO graduates are held in high regard, and we partner with many of the College and University Pre-Optometry Professional Societies (POPS) to assist budding optometry students as early as possible through the admissions process.
Residency programs are available at the University of Houston College of Optometry and at partnering external sites. These programs are designed to provide optometrists with advanced clinical training and knowledge. While the program focus is on direct patient care, scholarly and didactic activities also contribute to the development of the advanced clinical competencies. The University Eye Institute at UHCO offers residencies in seven clinical areas and subspecialty areas and are located Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; and Albuquerque, NM.
