The Walman scholarship program (now in its sixteenth year) was established to encourage and assist students at schools and colleges of optometry. In its first fifteen years, Walman has awarded over 600 scholarships. The scholarship program is administered by the Scholarship America organization.
To be eligible for the Walman Scholarship Program, the student must be currently enrolled full-time in the second or third year at an accredited school or college of optometry. Recipients will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $4,000. Awards are not renewable, but student may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements
Applications for the Walman Scholarship Program will be available in the Office of Optometry Relations or you may go to the Walman website: www.walman.com Interested students must fully complete the application an mail it along with the required transcript of grades. All applications must be postmarked no later than April 10th.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Once scholarship recipients are selected financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000.
