Robert H. Peterson HCOS Scholarship Endowment

Dr. Bob Peterson was a native of Georgia who moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated in 1966.  He was a Captain in the United States Army then returned home to Houston and became a partner in the practice of Drs. Kemp & Peterson where he practiced for over 50 years.  Dr. Peterson was a leader in many organizations including the President of FERV and HCOS, the Northshore Rotary Club and the Galena Park School Board.  Dr. Peterson enjoyed giving back to his church and the underserved community.

Criteria:

  • This scholarship is to fund a full-time OPT student at the College of Optometry. 
  • Recipient must be in good academic standing and meet UHCO eligibility requirements. 
  • Selection is made by the College of Optometry Scholarship Committee.
  • $500 scholarships, one to each class for students that want to practice in Harris County after they graduate. The essay should about where they see themselves in 5yrs and what are some good ideas about keeping organized Optometry strong.
