O. W. Coburn Endowment Fund for Optometry Scholarships

Established in 1976 for Dr. O.W. Coburn who was the founder of Coburn Instruments which made edgers etc. for labs. Dr. Coburn practiced in downtown Houston for many years. 


  • Scholarship prospect exhibits leadership qualities.
  • Scholarship applicant should demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in Optometry.
  • This scholarship is to fund an incoming OPT I student in the College of Optometry. 
  • Preference given to applicants from Oklahoma and must be a degree seeking graduate student in optometry.
  • Recipient must be in good academic standing and meet UHCO eligibility requirements. 
  • Selection is made by the College of Optometry Scholarship Committee.
