Mark Lanier Presidential Endowed Fellowship

Dr. Mark Lanier was born in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from UHCO in 1984 and moved to Nacogdoches, TX, where he began his optometric career working for Dr. H.L. Stockwell before becoming owner of Nacogdoches Eye Associates in 1985. He was a member of the Piney Woods Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association and served as the team Optometrist for the Stephen F. Austin State University Athletic Department. Dr. Lanier was actively involved in his local community and was a member of the Fredonia Rotary Club, served as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Nacogdoches, the Nacogdoches County Codes Board and Fredonia Hill Baptist Academy and also served on various Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce committees as well as various Stephen F. Austin Athletic Booster committees. 

Criteria:

  • This scholarship is to fund an incoming OPT I student in the College of Optometry
  • Renewable for up to 8 semesters
  • Recipient must maintain a 3.3 GPA and OAT score of 330
  • Recipient must be in good academic standing and meet UHCO eligibility requirements. S
  • election is made by the College of Optometry Scholarship Committee.
