Dr. Nicole Hooper was born and raised in the great state of Wyoming. She received her B.S. in molecular biology from the University of Wyoming and her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Hooper then completed her extended residency training in low vision rehabilitation at UHCO and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Her primary interests focus on serving older adults and those with acquired brain injury. She is a member of the American Society on Aging, Houston Gerontological Society and Brain Injury Association of Texas.

Dr. Swati Modi is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) and Chief of the Low Vision Rehabilitation service at the Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in low vision rehabilitation at UHCO and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). Dr. Modi has lectured at both national and international meetings.

Dr. Ana M. Perez is a graduate from the University of Rochester where she got her BA in Biology. She is a Magna Cum Laude/Valedictorian graduate of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, School of Optometry Class of 1992. After graduation she continued to further pursue a specialty in Vision Rehabilitation at the University of Houston, College of Optometry. This area of vision care works specifically with visual impairments both acquired and congenital. Dr. Perez started the Low Vision Rehabilitation Service at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology seven years ago, which is still ongoing. Currently she is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of the Center for Sight Enhancement at the University Eye Institute. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Stanley Woo

Stanley Woo, O.D., M.S., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Woo completed his B.Sc. degree in pharmacology at the University of Toronto, Canada. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of California at Berkeley and his Masters in Vision Science from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. He also completed a residency in low vision rehabilitation at the UHCO. Dr. Woo is one of three Texas Diplomates in Low Vision of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Woo is an Assistant Professor at the UHCO and founding director of the Center for Sight Enhancement, a multi-disciplinary low vision rehabilitation clinic. He teaches in the clinic and is course master for the didactic programs in low vision rehabilitation and geriatric optometry. Dr. Woo is the also the Director of the Residency program in Low Vision Rehabilitation. He has lectured at continuing education courses nationally and internationally on the areas of pharmacology, retinal disease, and low vision rehabilitation.
