The University of Houston, College of Optometry seeks individuals who desire academic challenges and have the personal qualifications to complete our rigorous optometric program. UHCO is an ethnically diverse college and well known for graduating a large number of minority students. Students come to UHCO from more than 5 nations and from across the United States. UHCO students and graduates rank at or near the top of all schools and colleges of optometry for licensure examinations.
Our students maintain a national exemplary record of publications in such journals as the Review of Optometry and participation in research activities and presentations at the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). UHCOs first graduating class in 1955 consisted of 11 individuals, In 2007, UHCOs graduating class consisted of 94 students and the total number of individuals graduating from UHCO as of May, 2007 are 3577.
