Kimberly Lambreghts,R.N., O.D., FAAO

Associate Dean For Professional Studies

Dr. Lambreghts is a graduate of Pace University with an RN in Nursing and a BA in Biology. She worked as an orthopedic surgical nurse until entering optometry school. After graduating from SUNY College of Optometry in 1993, Dr. Lambreghts completed a dual residency in rehabilitative and primary care optometry at the Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport, NY. She served as staff optometrist at the Northport VAMC and an associate in private practice until coming to the UH College of Optometry in 1997. Currently she is a Clinical Associate Professor, Director of the Family Practice Service and serves as Family Practice Residency Director at the University Eye Institute. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Adjunct Faculty (Surgical)

Dr. Andrew Salem was born and raised in San Diego, California. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.S. in Psychobiology and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center and an Ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Salem also completed a Fellowship in Cornea, External Ocular Diseases, and Refractive Surgery at the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.

Marc Sanders,M.D., FACS

Adjunct Faculty (Surgical)

Dr. Marc Sanders is a recognized leader in cataract and refractive surgery. Among the first surgeons to perform laser vision correction over fifteen years ago, Dr. Sanders has stayed at the forefront of this rapidly changing field. He was one of the first surgeons to offer new techniques, such as femtosecond all-laser LASIK, custom wavefront optimized LASIK, refractive lens exchange, laser assisted cataract surgery with the LenSx and Catalys lasers, and presbyopic intraocular lenses. Dr. Sanders is a part-time professor at Baylor College of Medicine where he teaches surgeons in training. Committed to education and research, Dr. Sanders has published articles in the leading ophthalmic journals and has participated in clinical trials.

Justin Simbulan,O.D.

Clinical Asst Prof

Dr. Justin Simbulan graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) with Magna Cum Laude in 2017. After graduation, he completed a residency in Primary Care at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where his training focused on ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and low vision rehabilitation. After residency, Dr. Simbulan served as a full time staff optometrist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he was involved with direct patient care and acted as an attending for optometry residents and intern students. In 2020, Dr. Simbulan joined UHCO as clinical faculty. 

Dr. Simbulan enjoys a practice style that involves diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, as well as participating in the overall management of patients with systemic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension to evaluate for ocular complications. He maintains strong interest in the fitting of specialty contact lenses such as scleral lenses and gas permeable contacts, and involvement in the management of low vision rehabilitation.
