Muna Naash, Ph.D.

Joint Appointment in Optometry/Vision Science,
John S. Dunn Professor of Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Naash received a Ph.D. from Baylor College of medicine  where she obtained extensive experience in cell and molecular biology of the retina and then used transgenic/knockout/knockin to address causes of retinal degeneration. This has been the focus of her postdoctoral research at Baylor College of Medicine and during her years as faculty member at University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC), Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) and most recently at University of Houston (UH). She has more than 25 years of NIH funding for her research  on photoreceptor biochemistry/molecular biology with focus on outer segment (OS) structure/morphogenesis in health and disease states and more recently in protein transport and non-viral gene therapy.
