Kirill Larin, Ph.D.

Joint Appointment in Optometry/Vision Science,
College of Engineering Distinguished Professor

Dr. Kirill Larin received an M.S. in Laser Physics and Mathematics from Saratov State University in 1995, an M.S. in Cellular Physiology and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2002. Before joining UH Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2004, Dr. Larin completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UT-Galveston in the area of Biomedical Engineering and Optics. He has more than 20 years of experience in the development of optical methods for structural and functional imaging of various tissues, cells, and organs. His lab has extensive experience in developing state-of-art imaging systems based on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Optical Coherence Elastography (OCE), Optical Projection Tomography (OPT), Light-Sheet Microscopy (LSM), Brillouin Spectroscopy, and the development of corresponding multimodalities. Dr. Larin has a solid track record of leading multi-Institutional research programs, supported continuously by NIH for more than15 years.
