Biography

Dr. Bailey is a Clinical Professor and has been a member of the faculty for 25 years, following ten years of private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to his clinical attending duties, Dr. Bailey is the Course Master for the Community Health Optometry course that covers topics in public health, epidemiology, ethics, and professionalism. Dr. Bailey is a member of the research faculty of the Texas Eye Research and Technology Center (TERTC) at the College. He serves on the Admissions and Externship Advisory Committees. Dr. Bailey is a Fellow of the Ameican Academy of Optometry (AAO) and a Diplomate of the Public Health and Environmental Vision Section of the AAO. Dr. Bailey is the Chair of the Vision Care Section of the American Public Health Association from November 2005 to November 2006. He is a past chair of the Ethics and Values Committee of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and currently serves on the Judicial Council of the AOA. He has served on the Ethics Committees of the AAO and Texas Optometric Associations. Dr. Bailey is a member of the Regulations and Standards Committee of the World Council of Optometry and was a Fellow of the WCO during a sabbatical to Ramkhamhaeng University School of Optometry in Bangkok, Thailand.

Research Interests

Research interests are in public health, professionalism, and ethics. As a member of the Texas Eye Research and Technology Center (TERTC),participate in contact lens and anterior segment projects.

Clinical Interests

All aspects of primary care practice, especially that associated with visual efficiency.
