Dr. Hofer graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a BS in physics in 1996. In 2003 she received a PhD in Optics from the University of Rochester where she pursued research under Dr. David Williams into adaptive optics, the aberration structure of the human eye, the organization of the retinal cone mosaic, and color vision. She came to the UH College of Optometry as an Assistant Professor in 2005.
Research interests include color vision, the organization of retinal mosaic and its impact on vision, adaptive optics, high-resolution retinal imaging, and the aberration structure of the eye.
