Continuing Education

Continuing Optometric Medical Education

Annually, over 1,200 optometrists from Texas and around the nation obtain their continuing education from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Our mission is to optimize patient care, and we have designed programs that provide the most accurate and up-to-date information and strategies for optometrists.

With over 15 programs each year, participants may select from venues throughout Texas including Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, and Tyler as well as the Western Caribbean, Estes Park, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Inspired by experts within the field, our programs showcase topics that are timely and informative, ensuring that continuing education participants further develop skills and knowledge vital to patient care. In addition to a variety of certification programs, UHCO offers an Annual Cornea, Contact Lenses and Contemporary Vision Symposium as well as The Benedict Professorship in Practice Management and Administration Lecture Series and the Harris Lee Nussenblatt Lecture Series, focusing on issues related to the profession such as ethics, public health and practice administration.
