All UHCO sponsored postgraduate clinical optometric education courses are eligible for continuing education credit. In order to receive credit for each session in a course, participants must sign in and obtain an attendance form which must be verified at the end of the last session attended. Participants must be present no later than 5 minutes after the start time for each session. The Texas Optometry Board requires participants to be present a full clock hour to receive credit for that hour.
An educational monitor will be present at each session to verify CE attendance. Forms provided for this purpose can only be verified as participants leave the session. Hours cannot be verified at a later time.
Inspired by experts within the field, our programs showcase topics that are timely and informative, ensuring that continuing education participants further develop skills and knowledge vital to patient care. In addition to a variety of certification programs, UHCO offers an Annual Cornea, Contact Lenses and Contemporary Vision Symposium as well as The Benedict Professorship in Practice Management and Administration Lecture Series and the Harris Lee Nussenblatt Lecture Series, focusing on issues related to the profession such as ethics, public health and practice administration.
Verification of continuing education hours for Texas licensees will be sent directly to the Texas Optometry Board within 4 weeks after the course presentation date. Verification of continuing education hours for out-of-state licensees is sent directly to each participant. Out of state licensed participants are responsible for notifying their state board of the continuing education hours earned at a UHCO program.
All participants will receive 2 copies of attendance verification letters within 4 weeks after a course is completed. If you are licensed in more than 2 states and need additional attendance letters, please notify the UHCO CE Office as soon as possible. Rush-order CE Attendance Verification Letters are available by request. Contact the on-site CE Staff Member for rush-order letters. A permanent transcript is maintained by UHCO for all CE participants for up to 5 years after the course presentation date.
The University of Houston College of Optometry is a COPE Qualified Administrator. Courses will be submitted for COPE approval when the format meets COPE criteria. If your state requires that UH provide you with a specific attendance verification letter detailing lecture titles, speakers, COPE ID numbers and hours attended, please notify us as soon as possible to request a detailed letter.
Continuing Education with Examination Credit (CEE) is available for select UHCO CE Programs. Please contact the UHCO CE Office at 713.743.1900 or via email at optce@uh.edu for a list of CEE lectures.
