Dr. Veerappan completed her B.S. in Neurobiology/Physiology at the University of Maryland, College Park. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry & Master's in Vision Science at State University of New York (SUNY)in 2012. She continued her education with a residency in Ocular Disease/Primary Care at the Veterans Affairs Hospital (VAMC) in Hudson Valley, NY. She had the opportunity to move overseas to Singapore where she completed a 1-Year Postdoctoral fellowship in Dry Eye Research at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. While in Singapore, she also worked at an Orthokeratology private practice. Her clinical interests include specialty contact lenses, pediatrics, and treatment and management of ocular disease. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and World Council of Optometry. Dr. Veerappan has currently been working at the University of Houston College of Optometry as an adjunct faculty member. She will now serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences.
