As I watch the building of the new addition to the Vision Institute, I can appreciate how proud Dr. Armistead must have been in 1977. The new facility will put UHCO at the leading edge of Optometric education. Beyond the majesty of the physical presence is the legacy that is being built. New diagnostic techniques and treatments are the driving force that helps our profession to provide the best eye care. The Foundation for Education in Research and Vision is the support organization that helps to raise money for UHCO. I want FERV to broaden our fundraising aim past the numerous student scholarships which we currently award. Several activities I have in mind will help to build a Legacy at UHCO that many generations can enjoy.
