At the University of Houston College of Optometry, our alumni are a critical element of our history and our future. The optometric profession has always been a close-knit community, and as such, we treasure the sharing of information, ideas, resources and experiences with faculty, staff, alumni and other professionals in the healthcare field.

When a student enrolls at UHCO, they join a family of caring and generous optometric professionals dedicated to providing quality evaluations and recommendations for patients and families. Upon graduation, UHCOs alumni quickly learn just how valuable the connections they make in school will be as they embark upon their various career paths. Whether someone chooses to open their own private practice, join a commercial practice or provide vision care in a military setting, UHCO alumni know that they will be able to seek the wise counsel and expertise of other alumni who have gone down that professional path before them.

Remaining connected to UHCO as an alumnus demonstrates dedication to the advancement of the profession, the health and welfare of your patients and a strong interest in the future growth of the profession and the College. Advancing the profession is shown through active participation in professional associations, whether it is on a local, statewide, regional, national or an international level. The provision of quality patient care means that all of your patients benefit from professional examinations, diagnoses and treatment and that you are willing to donate your services to individuals who are unable to receive much-needed vision care were it not for your generosity. Supporting UHCO can be done in a variety of ways through regular contributions to your class endowment, contributions to our Vision Institute building campaign or through the establishment of legacy donations in your name, just to name a few options.
