UHCO affiliated residency programs in Ocular Disease, Refractive and Ocular Surgery, and Primary Eye Care are available at external sites.

Admission Requirements for External Residency Programs

All external residency programs (Albuquerque VA, Eye Center of Texas, Omni Eye Specialists, Wilford Hall Medical Center) have admissions requirements specific to the agency or site.

Salary and Benefits for External Residency Programs

  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE accredited school or college of optometry.
  • Successful completion of the Basic and Clinical Science parts of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, including the TMOD
  • A State of Texas Optometry Licence
  • The Graduate Record Examination is required for the combinde MS/Residency Program
