How to Apply

The University of Houston College of Optometry will be utilizing OptomCAS, the optometry centralized application service for the academic year 2011-2012.

Please be aware that, in addition to the OptomCAS application, applicants will be required to fill out a UHCO Supplemental Application. . The UHCO supplemental application will be available to applicants on our website (www.opt.uh.edu) as soon as the OptomCAS application is submitted and an OptomCAS ID is generated. The UHCO supplemental application ID will be the same as the OptomCAS ID. A fifty dollar ($50US), non-refundable application fee for the UHCO supplemental application is required.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT OptomCAS APPLICATION AND the UHCO SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION: FEBRUARY 15, 2012.


ALL APPLICATION MATERIAL MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE UHCO STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE NO LATER THAN MARCH 15, 2012.

Keep in mind that OptomCAS may take 4 to 6 weeks to verify credentials therefore some applications submitted prior to February 15 may not be received by UHCO until after the March 15 deadline.


Also note that UHCO requires that two of the letters of recommendation that are sent to OptomCAS be academic letters of recommendation, i.e. the letters must be from faculty who have directly taught the applicant.
